Claire’s hair loss story begins at the age of 13. Initially the issue was thinning due to Alopecia, but she also developed Trich (Trichotillomania) – the irresistible compulsion to pull out her hair.

For a few years, she struggled to accept her hair loss and didn’t want anyone to know about it. So, she covered it up as best she could with makeshift hairpieces using a headband. As she explains, hair loss affected her confidence almost every part of her day-to-day life.

“Hair is a big part of your appearance and hair loss had a massive impact on my confidence, friendships and relationships. I was always aware of my hair loss and could never relax. If it was a windy day, I was never at ease. I hated sitting in a classroom at school with someone sitting behind me in case they noticed something. If I stayed at my friend’s house, I would have to wear my hair up to go to bed and keep it hidden. And when I started my career working with special needs children, I knew they could sometimes pull hair, so obviously I was constantly on edge. I was even worried that my friend was going to ask me to be her bridesmaid, because that would mean having my hair done.”

 “Hair loss affected everything!”

As time went on, Claire found it harder and harder to keep up the pretence and manage her worsening hair loss. She wasn’t happy with how she looked, or how she felt about herself.

Desperate to find a permanent hair loss solution that would be right for her, she searched for ‘female hair loss’ on the internet and came across Hair Solved.

“I remember thinking ‘WOW, this seems like something that could help me’. So, yes, I gave them a go!”

Initially, Claire went with the Enhancer System, which was secured to her scalp using what was left of her existing hair. As the system is only adjusted or removed by our trained salon stylists, it acted as a barrier to stop Claire from pulling her hair out.

Claire doesn’t just love how natural her Enhancer System looks, she loves how good it makes her feel.

 As well as enjoying her newfound confidence, Claire is also able to try new things.

“I like it because it fits to my head like a glove and feels secure. Now that I have a daughter, it has given me the confidence to do things with her, like going swimming. Getting my hair wet doesn’t worry me… neither does going on a rollercoaster!”

Claire also loves having the flexibility to style her hair for different occasions.

“I can curl my hair, I can straighten my hair, I can tie it up and I can do whatever I want with it. Even just going on a night out I feel like I am dressed up instead of wearing my hair up all the time with a headband. I feel more glamourous, which makes me feel so much more confident and attractive. Events and situations I used to dread, I now enjoy.

It sounds so silly, but even my husband said, ‘I feel like I have got my wife back’ when I had it done last week.”

Claire is delighted to have found a natural hair loss solution that works perfectly for her. Hair loss used to be something that she struggled to accept and cope with. In fact, it’s safe to say it dominated her life. Now, she doesn’t really have to give it much thought. It’s just part of who she is.

“They have done tests on me and looked through a microscope to see if I have got any hair follicles and I haven’t. So, 90% of my hair will never grow back. I have accepted that hair loss is for the rest of my life.”
