Do women experience hair loss due to menopause?

Hair loss around the menopause can be caused by changing hormone levels and your body producing less oestrogen and progesterone. These two hormones keep your hair healthy, making it grow faster and helping it stay on your head longer. So, when these two hormones drop, the hair can start to grow much more slowly and for some women it will be much thinner. A decrease in these hormones can also trigger an increase in the production of androgens, or a group of male hormones. Androgens shrink hair follicles, resulting in hair loss on the head.

Whilst hair loss can occur around the menopause, it could also be hereditary and due to the natural ageing process for around 50% of women.

Both our enhancer system and hair loss extensions can be used to add volume to thinning hair and replace any hair that is missing. They can also be adjusted to adapt to further changes in your hair over time.

Our Client Dominique says “Since having the system I feel like a woman again, I love it. A woman wants to be feminine and you don’t feel feminine when you haven’t got any hair.” Visit our story pages to read Dominique’s story.

Is the Enhancer System suitable for all types of alopecia?

Our bespoke female hair loss solution, The Enhancer, is suitable for all types of alopecia. The customised mesh of the Enhancer System is attached by threading strands of your own hair through the mesh, which means it is secure and comfortable.

If you have complete hair loss we use a specialist surgical tape to attach the mesh and then apply the 100% real hair extensions to the mesh, again ensuring it is secure and comfortable.

“I remember ringing and saying ‘I guess you won’t be able to do this system because I’ve got no hair now’. I was so surprised when they said, ‘Don’t worry, we use special tape’. They are so patient and whereas I used to just want the same hair colour I had before, now I have reds and blondes put in.”

How is Hair Solved’s Enhancer System different from wigs, hair pieces & hair toppers for women?

Unlike a wig hair topper or hairpiece, you don’t ‘take it off’ at night, or before you get in the shower or go swimming.
In fact, you don’t remove it yourself at all, we make any adjustments for you when you come for your next appointment. You can treat your hair system as you would your normal hair – you can wear it up, down or style it for a special occasion.

As Olivia explains, it is much more secure than a wig too:

“It’s so much better than a wig. It feels a lot better because you don’t have to take it off. Some boys at school pull at it for fun… as a joke. If it was a wig it would actually come off, but if they pull my hair it doesn’t do anything.”

Does Hair Solved provide extensions?

Extensions are often used for glamorising, but we find they have a valuable role in dealing with partial hair loss – either where hair loss is less severe or where a Client’s hair is growing back and they are transitioning from our Enhancer system to more of their own hair. We offer two types of hair extensions to create volume, length or both.

How long does it take to fit an Enhancer System?

The Enhancer is designed to be fitted in less time than most comparable systems. We are able to implement most new designs in 3 to 6 hours, while comparable systems would have taken 7 to 8 hours to complete.

At your free consultation, we will advise you how long you can expect to spend in our salon.

Can I have it cut and coloured to suit my own personal style?

Being able to treat the Enhancer System like your own hair is one of the most important benefits of our bespoke hair loss solution. It is important to us that it reflects your own individual style.

At your consultation we will discuss the look you want to achieve. If you are not sure, then our experienced team can advise what might work best for you. You can choose the colour to match your own hair, have highlights or low lights or change the colour of your hair completely.

Does the Enhancer System need much care?

The system is integrated into your existing hair or, if you have total hair loss, we secure it with specialist surgical tape. This means that you can wash and style it just like you would a normal head of hair and your stylist will help by giving you lots of tips about aftercare. You can swim, exercise and go out in all weathers with confidence.

“I love swimming and on holiday I went in the pool and in the ocean. I put it in a ponytail and wash it like normal hair.”

Can I wash my Enhancer System in the shower or does it need to be done professionally?

Yes, you can wash your hair in the shower, in fact many of our clients tell us one of the best things about the Enhancer System is that you can wash it and style it exactly as you would your own hair.

You can even use curlers or straighteners to style your system! One tip is to remember the less you tangle your Enhancer hair, the quicker it will be to comb and blow dry.

Is the Enhancer long-lasting?

We recommend you visit us every four to six weeks as you would your hairdresser. You can have your system adjusted as necessary and styled. We use high quality materials so in most cases we only recommend a completely new system every two and a half years.

Can my hair grow back underneath the Enhancer System?

Yes. The Enhancer allows your own hair to grow back. It’s a particularly suitable and effective solution for hair loss caused by chemotherapy, physical or psychological trauma, ill health or trichotillomania (hair pulling).

XCLOSE

Is the Enhancer System suitable for all types of hair loss?

Yes, it is suitable for all types of hair loss, no matter what the cause or condition. Every system is bespoke and designed specifically to suit your needs. This only happens after a thorough consultation discussing your condition and your desired look and style.

Whatever the cause of your hair loss our unique and innovative system can cover total hair loss, partial loss or simply add volume to thinning hair.

What is the cost?

Every Enhancer System is individual, so the cost varies by person. You will need to pay for the initial cost for custom fitting the system, but ongoing adjustments and styling can be made more convenient for you with one of our flexible Careplans.

We will advise you during your consultation how much you can expect to pay for the system that is right for you. From our experience and client feedback, we estimate that our prices can be up to 50% cheaper than other leading consultancies offering similar solutions.

XCLOSE

Can I get NHS funding for a Hair Solved Enhancer System?

Our prices are generally lower than many hair loss consultancies providing similar systems, so the NHS will be more likely to pay, or part pay, for your new Hair Solved hair system. It depends on your personal circumstances and your Primary Care Trust, but we will provide you with all available support and assistance when applying for NHS funding and throughout the process.
