Behind the Scenes at Hair Solved Manchester.

We love introducing you to our Hair Solved team and our talented stylists and technicians enjoy getting the chance to share a little bit about themselves. They are always keen to share why Hair Solved is such special a place to work and what their clients mean to them. So, imagine how excited we were when two of the team from Hair Solved Manchester agreed to do ‘5 Minute Interviews’. Holly is a Technician and Lauryn our Trainee Stylist and they both took time out recently to help you get to know them little better.

Holly is a Technician at our Manchester Salon.

Her role incorporates creating systems and providing all the essential maintenance, such as tightening, fixing and adjustments, that keep our Enhancer Systems looking their beautiful best. When she isn’t creating stunning systems, she is also part of the team that provide clients with beautiful hair extensions for volume, length and glamour.

Holly tells us what she loves about her job and her favourite ways to relax and we think you’ll agree that by the time you have read this fantastic interview you will understand why she is so passionate about her work.

Q&A with Holly.

Q1. Holly how long have you worked at Hair Solved and what did you do before you joined the salon team?

I’ve worked at Hair Solved since September 2019 and of course through some challenging times during the pandemic.

Prior to joining the team, I was at college doing my Level 2 and 3 in Public Services, this is a course that makes you mentally and physically ready for entry into the police, the fire service or any army services.

I have a Level 3 Diploma in public services.

Q2. What attracted you to Hair Solved as an employer?

My older sister works here so I already knew a little bit about Hair Solved and the system. But I also really wanted to try something new.

Q3. What do you enjoy most about your work?

I really enjoy the sewing process; I find it very calming. This is where we sew the hair wefts and partings on to the mesh. We use a blanket type stitch with a very strong thread and this process makes the Enhancer System strong and prevents it coming apart.

I always think it helps to make the system fit like a swimming cap and sewing the hair in to place means it isn’t going anywhere. We know how important it is to our clients that their system feels secure and this process is part of making the system bespoke. Each system is unique and personal and stays in place in a way that wigs simply can’t.

Q4. How important is the relationship you have with the rest of the team?

My team is like a big family and they were so supportive during my training, teaching me practical skills and helping my development as a Technician. Everyone adds something to the team, and we all work so well together.

Q5. What do you enjoy most about working at Hair Solved?

Q6. How important is the relationship you have with clients?

I think it is really important to have a good relationship with our clients.

I want to put them at ease during their time in the salon so they leave feeling relaxed, confident and beautiful.  I want to make sure that they always want to come back to me to do their hair.

Q7. How did you feel when you created your first system?

I was very scared but excited.

Q8. Do you find it difficult to explain to friends and family about your job and what Hair Solved do? Yes! But I say that I am a ‘hair designer’ and I hand design and make personalised hair enhancers.

Q9. Do you find that customers get emotional when you talk to them about hair loss?

I try to be as understanding as possible because I know how hair loss affects confidence and often clients have struggled with hair loss for many years. I make sure I help them with any questions of concerns they may have with their system or their hair loss.

Q10. Do you find this difficult or fulfilling to deal with? Do you feel that you help them?

It can be difficult to put yourself in their shoes sometimes, but I always try my best to help them and sometimes that is all that is needed just to give 100% and our clients really respond to that.

Q11. How do clients react to their new hair?

They love it! Some of them cry with joy or just get really excited. It is wonderful to see the reactions.

Q12. Will you continue to develop your skills? I have made over 12 new systems now, but I am focusing on making sure that every system I make is perfect and that I continue to get top marks.

Q13. What is your favourite hair product?

I really love the Goldwell Gift sets, they are such good value and always come in a lovely bag, I particularly like the Colour Shampoo and Conditioner.

Q14. What do you like to do to relax?

I like chilling with my family, boyfriend and friends. My boyfriend is in the Navy, so I do get to travel around when I have holiday to take. I love going out for food and drinks and when I have time, I like to watch films and a good series. I really enjoyed Peaky Blinders and Killing Eve because I have to watch something that pulls me in at the very start or I get bored.

But at least in my role at Hair Solved I know I will never be bored.

Lauryn is our Trainee Stylist at Hair Solved Manchester.

It is Lauryn’s job to bring the systems to life for our clients once the Technicians have finished their work; cutting, styling and colouring so the Enhancer System is perfectly tailored to the clients own personal style.

Q&A with Lauryn.

Q1. Lauryn how long have you worked at Hair Solved and what did you do before you joined the salon team?

I have worked here for 4 years, prior to that I worked in a local cafe, but I really wanted to pursue my career in hairdressing. So, when I saw a role advertised at Hair Solved Manchester I didn’t hesitate to apply.

Q2. What do you enjoy most about your training and what does it involve?

I love the fact that I get to learn something new every single day. My ongoing training includes a variety of hairdressing skills and techniques – colouring, blow-dry’s, styling.

Q3. How important is the relationship you have with the rest of the team?

The relationship I have with the girls is very important. They are very supportive of me and they really believe in me.

Q4. What do you enjoy most about working at Hair Solved?

I love coming in to work every day and having a good time with the other girls, that really is what I enjoy most, the team is so important to me. My relationship with the clients is also of great importance to me and I want them to always be happy and feel comfortable.

Q5. What is your favourite hair product and what is your favourite colouring technique?

My favourite hair product is Black Caviar, and my favourite colouring technique has got to be highlights.

Black Caviar is such a wonderful hair cream that leaves the hair shiny and easy to control for really long lasting styling. It loosens tangles, mends split ends and protects hair color. We recommend it to clients because it contains UVA and UVB sun filters and offers excellent protection against heat.

Which means you can style your Enhancer System and use a hair dryer and straighteners whilst keeping your system silky and soft.

This is my favourite product to get silky smooth hair.

Q6. Do you find it difficult to explain to friends and family about your job and what Hair Solved do?

Sometimes as it isn’t a typical hair salon. But I explain that Hair Solved is one of the only hair loss clinics in Manchester that offers a reliable service and wide range of hair and many more services all in complete confidentiality.

I feel proud when I can say we give many women their confidence back.

 

Q7. Do you find that customers get emotional when you talk to them about hair loss?

Sometimes clients do get emotional, but they tend to be mixed emotions.

Seeing someone sad at the start of their journey isn’t easy but it is always a feeling of great joy when you see them happy at the end of the process.

 

Q8. How do clients react to their new hair?

Very happy and on some occasions tears of joy!

Q9. What do you like to do to relax? I like to watch my favourite programmes, TOWIE, The Real Housewives and Vampire Diaries. I also love to play with my son especially having the chance to get out in the fresh air and go to the park. There is nothing more precious than spending time with my little boy.
